Optimus llegó temprano a los invernaderos, como de costumbre. Nunca iba a entender por qué sus compañeros esperaban tanto para salir hacia la clase de Herbología, si ya sabían que el camino era largo. ¿No era mejor ser puntual? Y sin embargo, siempre era el primero, y tenía que esperar un largo rato solo.

Por eso se sorprendió al ver que esta vez el lugar no estaba vacío. Un chico de Ravenclaw estaba en una de las mesas, siguiendo con su varita los movimientos de unos tentáculos que parecían bastante rebeldes. Se veía tan concentrado que al principio Optimus creyó que se había equivocado de horario, y le tomó un momento deducir que seguramente era un rezagado de la clase anterior.

-No te acerques -dijo el chico, sin volverse a mirarlo, en cuanto lo escuchó entrar-. Reacciona al movimiento.

- Oh. Gracias -respondió. Al cabo de un instante, tuvo que decir lo que estaba pensando-. ¿Es seguro que estés haciendo eso?

-Tengo permiso.

-... no me refería a eso.

El otro chico no dijo nada. Sólo siguió con su trabajo (al menos, Optimus suponía que eso es lo que era), demostrando una gran habilidad para manejar a la planta. Se quedaba perfectamente quieto, dejando que ella se moviera primero, y en cuanto uno de los tentáculos daba señales de atacar lo detenía con un hechizo. En poco tiempo todos estuvieron completamente inmóviles.

Era bastante impresionante, a decir verdad.

-Tienes buenos reflejos -dijo Optimus-. ¿Juegas Quidditch?

-Hmpf. No me interesa -replicó él. Pero incluso así, de perfil, se podía notar su pequeña sonrisa de orgullo.

The great thing about potions was that you got to improvise. Well, not in class, of course. That usually brought bad grades. Jack was very good at following instructions and coming up with exactly the kind of potion the professor wanted, but the fun part - what he really liked - was playing around with the ingredients just to see what happened.

It was even better in good company.

"Why am I doing this again?"

"C'mon, Ratch, don't be such a spoilsport. I know you have fun with this too!"

"... well, yes," he admitted. "But we should be studying for our NEWTs. Do you know how hard it is to apply to be a healer? I need to get Outstanding in all my subjects-"

"This counts as studyin'," said Jack. "We're even doin' extra work, right?"

He grinned shamelessly, and his friend's amused expression told him that he had indeed just won the argument.

"Fine. But I'm not getting rid of your burns again," he said, trying and failing to sound strict. Jack simply laughed.

"Now, that's an empty threat if I ever heard one."

"Gee, I don't know," Murph said. "Could be because when you're not hanging out with me, you're hanging out with Michael-"

"Yeah, right," Harry snorted. "He's got a girlfriend now."

"Or," she continued, ignoring his interruption, "it could be that you're always jumping at danger in a very non-Ravenclaw way."

"I don't jump at danger! I just happen to be around."

"You get involved, Dresden. Running into the Forbidden Forest? Really? If Michael hadn't been close by, you wouldn't be here to tell it."

"I know," he sighed. "It's just... you'd think Susan would have known I'm not a Gryffindor. I mean, we're in the same house!"

"... ooooh."

Harry raised his eyebrows.

"What do you mean, ooooh?"

"I mean the problem isn't people assuming you're in the wrong house, the problem is girls not noticing you."

"Murph-"

"A particular girl not noticing you!"

"You're a prefect, Murph. Show some respect to your fellow students."

"Well, I'm your best friend, too, and I get to mock you."

The sad thing was, Harry couldn't argue with that.



(Michael is a prefect too. Charity's in Hufflepuff. Marcone is a creepy Slytherin prefect. Thomas is a Veela. Bob is the Ravenclaw ghost. WHY DO I KNOW ALL THIS.)

-¿Por qué tengo que ser yo? -preguntó Sky, mirando a los mellizos con desconfianza. Él los quería mucho, de verdad que sí, pero eso no significaba que estuviera ciego a sus defectos. Y sabía con toda claridad que, cuando los dos se ponían de acuerdo en algo, era hora de preocuparse.

-¡Porque eres confiable! ¡Responsable! -le dijo Ema con entusiasmo- ¡Los profesores te adoran!

-Tienen que decirte que sí -insistió Gil. Otra vez tenía esa sonrisa que, de tan inocente, daba toda la vuelta y volvía a ser sospechosa.

... iba a perder esta discusión, lo sabía.

-Pero no puedo pedirlo así como así -dijo, en un último esfuerzo por salirse de ésta-. Es la sección restringida. Necesito una muy buena excusa para obtener un pase.

-De hecho -dijo Ema, sacando un rollo de pergamino de su bolsillo- tenemos toda una lista.

Sky no pudo contener un suspiro. No, definitivamente, esto no iba a terminar bien.



(Sky es de Hufflepuff, Ema es de Ravenclaw, Gil es la cosa más Slytherin que haya existido jamás. No sé por qué quieren ir a la sección restringida y honestamente NO QUIERO SABERLO!)

-¡No es justo! -se quejó Kaoru, tratando de encontrar una posición más o menos cómoda en su asiento- ¡La sala común de Gryffindor tiene muchos más lujos que la nuestra! ¿Por qué tenemos que vivir en un calabozo?

Kyouya no preguntó cómo sabía tanto acerca del mobiliario en la torre de Gryffindor. Estaba claro que era una de las ventajas de tener un gemelo idéntico. Sí hubiera preferido que compartiera ese tipo de información para temas más productivos que el gusto para la decoración de quien fuera que había diseñado los dormitorios de Slytherin, pero no era el momento de tener esa charla.

-Presentemos una queja oficial, entonces -respondió-. Como prefecto, tengo bastante influencia.

-¿Para eso vas a usar tu buena reputación con los profesores? -rió el otro. Pero no estaba exactamente quejándose.

Kyouya sonrió y se acomodó los anteojos.

-Para eso y para mejorar mi reputación con los alumnos, claro.

Kaoru le dio una palmada en el hombro.

-El viejo Salazar estaría orgulloso.

"This is a bad idea," Rory said. He didn't dare hope that Amy would listen to him, but he felt it was his moral duty to mention it, at least. Not that it'd do any good.

"It's a brilliant idea!" she replied. She didn't sound upset with him; she was too excited for that. "C'mon, Rory. It's a secret tunnel. You don't find those every day!"

"... true," he agreed. "But are you sure we should go inside? You have no idea of what's in there."

Amy stared at him as if he had just said the silliest thing in the world.

"That's the point, dummy. It's an adventure!"

And then she had that smile again, and those eyes, and Rory knew he wasn't getting out of this one. He even found himself starting to grin right back at her.

"Okay," he said at last. "But let's charm the entrance first, so it won't close with us still inside."

"You're brilliant!" Amy said, and tugged his arm to drag him behind her. "Don't know what I'd do without you."

"Get stuck in some unexplored tunnel, I'm sure."

It wasn't so much that Potions was his favourite subject, because he had a lot of those. But it was definitely his favourite class.

First of all, Arthur wasn't there. Not that he didn't like Arthur - they were best friends, after all - but it was nice to have a break from him once in a while. He got to be his geeky self without being teased, just for a little time, and that was a welcome change.

Besides, Professor Gaius always made things interesting.

"You should have been in my House," he used to tell him. "You have the curiosity of a true Ravenclaw."

"Yes, well, Arthur just calls me a nerd," he laughed. "And Gryffindors can be smart, too. Oh! And speaking of brains!"

"... yes?" asked the professor, raising an eyebrow. Merlin gave him his best smile.

"Can I get a pass for the restricted section?"

"See," Gaius said, as he signed the piece of parchment, "now there's some Gryffindor cheek."
