And I signed up for Transformers, of all things. Because I already had a Sari-related idea I wanted to write, yes, but mostly because the TF attitude to female characters bothers me a lot. THERE ARE CANON FEMALE CHARACTERS. You don't have to like them, you don't have to write about them, but stop it with the "they're really all genderless so they're not really girls" thing when THERE ARE CANON FEMALE CHARACTERS. I don't care if it's "unrealistic" for robots to have gender, it a canon about giant transforming space robots. And that's what you focus on? Really?

... sooo I thought I'd be productive and channel my ranting impulse into fic. =D

Bariloche does get a lot of snow! It's actually a ski center. But I haven't been here in winter since four years ago. I really missed it.

I'd need to rewatch more than the first season of BW before writing Blackarachnia, heh.

Where are you most of the time, and how far away is it from Bariloche? Winter snow here tends to fall everywhere within a daytrip's distance, even if it all melts in a few days everywhere except the mountains.

I found all of Beast Wars online at veoh.com, I think. You can find almost anything you want, as long as you don't care about video quality. Except for the live-action Nickelodeon shows I only vaguely remember and sort of want to rewatch so I can better appreciate them now than I did when I was a kid *sob*

I'm - eeek, a third of the way through TFA, but I'm sure you'll write something brilliant - I signed up for a Toy Story fic about a thoery of mine about Jessie and Emily and Andy's mom that got Jossed by the third film, so it should be fun to get back into fic writing before the semester starts!

Somewhat longish story but I was on The Wake for a while which had a ton of TFA characters (and a wonderful Sari, BTW), so I used the cover of my then three-year-old nephew to start watching the episodes, which are absolutely wonderful. J's favorite is Bumblebee, surprise surprise, and mine is Prowl - so we adore the episode with the barnacle monster! The writing is just wonderful and makes me despise Michael Bay all the more!

And yes, you do! And bring tissues when you do. :)

I hope you know that the Northern hemisphere and its 100-degree-Fahrenheit temperatures are sulking at you right now. ;) The trees look so beautiful covered in snow!

Aaah, I can't sign up for another ficathon, why must you point another awesome one out to me. D: I can't wait to see what you write for Sari or Arcee! I'm sure it'll be fantastic, and there needs to be so much more fic about them than there already is.

And, of course, so much word on your rant and on your decision to channel that anger into fic. I try to do that too, because it's really the most productive thing - if canon's going to ignore and be horrible to its female characters, the least fans can do is give them the attention and love that canon lacks, right? And hey, the TF comic writers at least are pretty integrated into the fan community; I don't think it's too much to hope for that if lots of awesome writers start writing about the female characters and showing them some appreciation eventually the writing staff might catch on and start treating them a little better.

(I may sign up to write about Sari as well, since I can ramble about her pretty easily. :D)

Exactly! Besides, the whole "canon doesn't make them interesting enough to write about them" excuse doesn't really work in a fandom like this one. G1 especially has tons and tons of underdeveloped characters that the fandom loves. (And I'm not saying that's a bad thing; I adore Beachcomber, for some reason, and his whole personality is "hi I'm a nerdy hippie".) But if we can all agree that it's perfectly reasonable (and fun) to write about Random Background Decepticon #156, why not about the ladies?
